Josh 00:00:02 Good day, everybody. Welcome back to the deal, Scout. Josh here, your host. we took a little pause. And, the reason being is I had to study this book I just passed on Friday, I think the 16th of August, 2024. I passed the series 79 Finra's series 79 investment banking representative exam. And boy, was that a tough one. So I passed and I hung my hat. I am now a investment banker, right? So now, for the first time in a long time, my wife could actually tell people what it is I do because, you know, before it was I have a podcast production company, I'm a real estate broker. I've got all these things going, but Josh is an investment banker, so it just makes sense for this to finally happen. After decades of people asking me to raise capital for them. I just wasn't able to assist in that until I took this test. So what does that mean for for me and in future, you know, deals and stuff like that? a few things.
Josh 00:01:11 One is we were debating whether to, sell off the deal scout. We put it up for sale, and we had some offers. wasn't wasn't a lot of money, but, you know, it was just going to be a hand off. And we wanted to kind of move into, you know, things that were important to us, you know, which is kingdom related. I'm a I'm a Christian, and I wanted to create some, some media around Christian, you know, business and Christian investing and, and stuff like that. So we we debated selling the deal scout and or in training up the next co-host so I could focus on that. But, after a few conversations with my advisors, they, they said it actually might be beneficial to keep the deal scout moving forward. So what does that look for us? I'm back in the seat. I'm back in the recording studio recording stuff on deals I love. I love putting deals together. I love connecting people, resources, opportunities. So now I could do it in a way that is beneficial to all parties.
Josh 00:02:13 And for the first time, I could get paid on it. Right? So all you guys who I've helped over the years, time to time to come back and, return the karma, right. All right. So what kind of deals and opportunities can I in our groups assist with? So, you know, some of our clients are focusing on different types of transactions, IPOs, SPACs, which are special purpose acquisition companies, and IPOs are initial public offerings. So those are some of the things that are family office. One of my family office clients is is looking for we could also do mergers acquisitions, which, you know, the abbreviation is M&A. We could do bridge financing opportunities. Pipes, which are private investments into public equities so we could do those kind of opportunities and just in general advisory stuff for for companies both private and public. if you're looking to one day sell, if you're looking to acquire, if you're looking to one day have an exit through IPO or in a listing, you know, so the different companies that I work with and that I can help, help advise with are, you know, family offices, private equity groups, hedge funds, venture capital groups.
Josh 00:03:25 Those are typically the groups that I most, engaged with. So the future of the deal, Scout, we're going to spend more time going through interviewing other dealmakers. Definitely. I definitely want to learn from other dealmakers here, their journey, their story. But I want to get a little bit more tactical. I want to go into like, what is an IPO and have an attorney come and share, or maybe someone from SEC or Finra or, you know, one of these different, you know, maybe New York Stock Exchange should tell people what is an IPO and what are some of the requirements for it. You know, what are what's too big, too small. So I'd love to hear tactically about deals. So if you are a specialist on specific types of deals in the industry, I would love to have a conversation with you. Our information is Josh at the Deal scout.com. That's a great place to go. So if you have you know, if you have some expertise in IPOs, mergers, acquisitions, SPACs, which are really big, mezzanine debt, bridge financing, you know, pipes, you know, if you have any of that kind of experience, man, I'd love to interview you and share some of that information.
Josh 00:04:36 We're also going to have to share disclosures and disclaimers, right. I think it's really important to let people know, you know, that, you know, the proper disclaimers and disclosures, which I'm learning for the first time, we're going through compliance. And holy moly, when you become an investment banker, they kind of like scrub through your whole life. Everything. Every job, every business that you've been a part of. And it's a really neat process. But that's the role of that is the, the, the mission of that is to protect the public, to protect people listening in, to make sure that you're getting good information. Right. So let me, let me read what a disclaimer. You know, a and I'm going to have a hard time reading this stuff. So we'll put this on our websites and stuff. But I want to share this with you. So, you know, the content shared on this podcast is for informational purposes only and should not be taken as financial, legal or tax advice.
Josh 00:05:30 The views and opinions expressed are those of the host, Josh Wilson, and that of our guests, and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of any agency or organization that were a part of, I Josh Wilson, I'm a licensed real estate broker in Florida, and I'm an investment banker now. But this podcast is not a substitute for one on one professional advice. We strongly recommend that you consult with a qualified financial advisor, legal consultant and tax professional before making any financial decisions or take any actions based on the information provided here in this podcast. Also, with the guests that we interview, before you engage with them, do your own due diligence. Right. We're going to interview a lot of people and we're going to share a lot of story. Do your own due diligence, be prudent. Understand that being in the world of dealmaking is exciting. There's great opportunity, but there's also risk involved. So as your as you're listening to these people's stories, be wise. Do your due diligence, interview them, spend some time with them before engaging in them.
Josh 00:06:39 And if it's a good fit, make a decision on your own. So those are some of the disclosures and disclaimers that we're going to have to put on our website. And then also I just want to encourage you all To do deals. Be wise. Have fun. Learn to invest. Learn to grow. Maybe explore different types of investments you know with your qualified professionals. You're one on one. If you have questions about specific deal types or something and you'd like to talk with me or someone from our investment bank or, you know, maybe one of the clients that I represent, you know, family office or private equity group or venture capital group, please just reach out. We could get the conversation started. and we'll go from there. So the future of the deal. Scout, I'm back in the seat. I'm rocking and rolling with it. I'm working hand in hand with, some really great professionals and really my mission in life. My purpose, my mission. Why do I do this? Why was I waking up every morning at 4:00 in the morning studying this stuff is because I believe that my job is to fund the kingdom.
Josh 00:07:41 What the heck does that mean? Well, I'm still working on that, but I'm working with some really great, Christian based investment groups that are training me, teaching me so I can learn and grow in the process. But like, this is a part of my mission and I'm I'm really enjoying it. I'm excited about it and I'm excited to serve. So if you want to have a conversation or if you want to maybe be a guest on the show, or maybe even look at some deals together. Josh at the deal. Scout. Com or my cell phone is (352) 274-4500. please be respectful. Shoot some text. I get probably a thousand, you know, phone calls and emails and and text a week. So, other than that, I'm back in the seat. The deal scout is moving forward. We decided to keep it. We decided to grow it. Thanks to you guys. Thanks for your support. Our YouTube channel is absolutely growing and we're thankful for that. So if you found this helpful, please consider leaving our review a like comment.
